Writing and Publishing

This introductory workshop offers a practical, inspiring overview of the writing and publishing journey—from first draft to finished book. Designed for emerging and curious writers, it demystifies the creative process while providing clear insight into today’s publishing landscape, including traditional, hybrid, and self-publishing paths.

Participants will explore how ideas become manuscripts, how to develop sustainable writing habits, and what editors, agents, and readers look for. The session also breaks down self-publishing in accessible terms, covering platforms, timelines, costs, and common pitfalls, so writers can make informed decisions about ownership, control, and reach. Whether you’re just starting out or standing at a crossroads, this workshop equips you with clarity, confidence, and a realistic roadmap forward.

Screenwriting

The screenwriting course is an immersive, day-long workshop designed for writers interested in adapting prose fiction for film and television and for new writers wanting to explore writing screenplays. This session explores the fundamental differences between novels and screenplays— structure, pacing, visual storytelling, and character economy—while guiding participants through the process of translating internal narrative into compelling on-screen action. Attendees will be introduced to the basics of screenwriting format, story beats, and scene construction, as well as how to identify the cinematic core of their work. The workshop also covers the essentials of pitching to producers, including how to distill a story into a clear, market-ready logline, present its tone and audience, and speak confidently about adaptation potential. Ideal for novelists, short story writers, and creatives curious about screen storytelling, this workshop provides practical tools and industry insight to help bridge the gap between mind and screen.
