What is PEI’s Creative Portfolio?

CreativePEI is currently working with a local web development firm to create a beautiful and feature-rich online directory that will gather relevant information on the amazing individuals, businesses, and organizations that make up PEI’s creative sector.

The Portfolio website will provide a space online for creatives to promote their work to local and global audiences who are actively seeking information on our province or members of our sector.

This initiative will both connect creators and market their efforts, leading to greater collaboration and work opportunities.

Why Now?

In March of 2021, CreativePEI received funding through the Canada Council of the Arts’ Digital Strategy Fund to conduct a feasibility study in collaboration with a number of key arts and culture organizations on PEI to determine their members’ needs in relation to the creation of a new digital strategy for our sector. Innovation PEI and TourismPEI were also consulted in these initial discussions.

It was determined through these consultations that a media-rich content portal and directory would provide the biggest benefit to the sector by enhancing the discoverability of Island artists and businesses by both local and global audiences.

How will the Portfolio Website work?

The portfolio website will be made up of the following elements:

Media-rich profiles of individuals, businesses and organizations that will include:

  • a bio, photos and videos
  • contact information and location if applicable,
  • links to social media accounts and websites

Career opportunity listings including:

  • Employment opportunity listings
  • Funding program deadlines
  • Learning or career development opportunities

Regular artist spotlights and collections of featured media

A recommendation engine and advanced sorting and filtering by sub-sector, discipline and location

  • This may be one of the most important aspects of the site as it will allow people to learn about artists they may not have found out about otherwise.
