DotGain is PEI’s annual creative sector conference held each fall in collaboration with Holland College’s School of Visual Arts and other industry partners. This one-day professional development conference is specifically tailored to the visual arts communities of Prince Edward Island.

Each year the DotGain conference focuses on a central theme, last year’s theme was “Ripple Effects: How does our own mental and environmental health affect our creative ventures?”  The conference will attempt to answer how we can use our skills and talents for social good and what types of creative problems we will be solving in the future.

Last year’s DotGain conference took place virtually due to COVID-19 and included guest speakers, PJ Stevens on advice to young creatives Jill Stewart on self-care during COVID, and a panel on digital disruption featuring Maziar Ghaderi, Chloe Ziner, and Claudia Pawlak. Past speakers have included author Emily Cohen, an international expert in UX/UI design, Chris Govias.

Individuals taking part in the conference can expect to see debates and presentations, the opportunity to meet with award-winning creatives, and network with local and regional talent. DotGain is an excellent opportunity to find out more about emerging trends and a great way to join the discussion about the creative industry’s future.

CreativePEI looks forward to next year’s DotGain conference that will return with a full slate of in-person events in 2022.
