What is the art you can’t live without? How does art make your every day better?
On April 15th, we encourage everyone to take to their social media accounts and share a few words about an artwork or arts-related experience that has meaning for them that they’d like others to know about.
Tag it #WorldArtDayPEI so it can be easily discovered, and tag us @Creative.PEI on Instagram.
Other ways to participate in World Art Day on Wednesday:
- Listen in to CBC’s Island Morning where they are planning to invite listeners to call in about their art experiences to win prizes.
- Read the op-ed “Art is your every day” by Jane Ledwell and Megan Stewart
- Follow debates of the Legislative Assembly from 1:00 p.m. Some arts and culture leaders will be in the public gallery, hoping to encourage mentions of arts and culture in the Legislature.
- Join our Artmobile team at the Maker Space at the Charlottetown Library and Learning centre for an upsized night of creating in community. All supplies provided.
- Take part in the opening reception for the exhibition FANATICS at the Hilda Woolnough Gallery. The show features members of the Peake Street Collective and is hosted by This Town Is Small artist-run centre.
By sharing the value the arts bring into our lives, we hope to raise awareness of the contribution made by local artists and creative sector workers, especially when we are seeing significant reductions in public support for the arts in our neighbouring provinces.
