DESCRIPTION:Art Night in Charlottetown: The PEI Arts Guild Open House & The Artmobile Gallery is a chance for folks who have attended the CreativePEI Artmobile events to display their work to the public. We will have tables\, easels\, and the community gallery wall for showcasing their work\, and there will be refreshments\, and an Artmobile table set up for in-person creating at the event. This event is free and open to the public! Refreshments and activities will be on-site to enjoy alongside a collection of community art. \nAt the same time\, The PEI Arts Guild will be welcoming the public back into their newly renovated space – so if you’re curious to see what’s new\, now’s your chance! \nIf you have participated in Artmobile in the past and wish to feature your work (made during one of our events or not!)\, please fill out our sign-up form.

SUMMARY:Art Night: Tactile Sketchbook & the Written Word
DESCRIPTION:Art Night is when PEI’s creative community comes together to connect. It’s a time to meet and and learn from our peers from all disciplines while enjoying presentations and activities tailored for our audience. \nTactile Sketchbook & the Written Word\nSketchbooks are some of the most frequently used tools in an artist’s practice\, but they’re often kept private. Tactile Sketchbook & the Written Word\, led by Alexis Bulman\, brings them into the open\, with 17 of her own spiral-bound sketchbooks from over 15 years of dedicated practice available to browse alongside a collection of published sketchbooks by artists like Kate Beaton\, Henry Purdy and more! Participants are encouraged to bring an armload of their own sketchbooks and notebooks to share while taking part in lightly guided tactile drawing activities that create a communal space for exchange\, inspiration\, and new ways of approaching the page. \nAlexis Bulman\nAlexis Bulman is an interdisciplinary artist based in Epekwitk / Prince Edward Island whose drawing and sculpture practice is rooted in community\, collaboration\, and care. Her sketchbook is always close at hand as a space to jot down thoughts\, record lines from books and songs\, sketch\, and collect found materials and fragments. She has exhibited provincially\, nationally\, and internationally with support from the Canada Council for the Arts and PEI Arts Grants. Try your hand at making door hangers and wreaths with fresh-cut greenery and dogwood. \nAlong with our table\, there will be lots of other activities to enjoy – fun for the whole family.
